License Plate Road Trip Fun

One way to keep long road trips fun for students & to occupy their time is for them to learn license plates. This is especially helpful for the Police in emergencies as well if a child is abducted and another child witnesses the car & license number.  By using name association or phrases of the first letter of the license plate like an example might be BBA7766 "Bumble Bees & Ants" equals BBA for instance.  CCD4001 might be "Cats Chase Dogs" equals CCD.  This can be fun for students on long trips and helps them remember licenses a lot easier. If a student were ever abducted they would remember "Bumble Bees & Ants" a lot quicker than the letters "BBA."  Also out of State plates can be recognized too.  A CA plate might be where their grandma lives in California, so they would remember her over the State. Or perhaps they went on vacation recently to Wyoming & that was the State license they just saw. They associate it with something very memorable to them.  A car game might be the first child to come up with a phrase or name association with a license plate is the winner for that moment.  The funny names they come up with will keep them laughing & busy for hours and will help keep you the driver focused on the traffic in front of you.  Everyone wins in this situation & safety is of course our number one concern.

Students can even come up with their very own personalized plates as well. For instance NEVRL8 equals never late or 4EVRGRN equals for evergreen (WA State.)  Possibly EYELOVU equals I Love You, SHOWBIZ equals Show business.  The possibilities are endless!  The usual plate consists of (7) letters or numbers and empty spaces count as (1) letter or number.
