Important Note: Teachers & adults please supervise young children with all of these projects to avoid hazards!

Kidz Notes
Supplies:
Folded plain note cards & envelops
Child's colorful drawings
Thin paste or glue sticks
Thin line colorful marker
Child's favorite stickers

Take your child's favorite drawings from school or home and make color copies of them (Shrink size on copier to fit the front of note cards.)  Glue them completely to cover front of note cards and write child's name with marker on the bottom. Example; Nate's Personal Artwork (Age 6) or on the back side of the note card you can put their City & State (example- Seattle, WA.)  Seal envelope when done & have your child add their favorite sticker on the back of the envelope. Mail to family or friends. *Your child has just created his own personal note card.

Kidz Helping Handz

Supplies:  Construction paper
Crayons, markers or colored pencils
Hole punch
Colorful yarn or ribbon
Child's Artwork

Have kids outline their hands on colorful construction paper for their "Helping Handz Art Books."  For the back page of their book have them outline their bare feet. On the cover page by their outlined hands put their names.  Example; "Nate's Helping Handz Art Book." Hole punch their pages and put colorful yarn or ribbon to hold book together. Add pages of their artwork as they do them  (maybe pictures of their pets, themselves, their friends, nature pictures, or any of their art as collected sheets.) Sheets can be made with construction paper as well as felt pieces added to their design, or other items of choice. You can include age, height, weight, favorites, schools, their likes and dislikes, books they like, favorite foods, sports, music, goals in life, Example; Fireman, Policeman etc. or maybe even a brief Biography on the final page. *Students have a memorable book for many years to share with family & friends and can compare the size of their hands & feet!

Kidz Class Photo Tree
Supplies:
Tiny colored plastic clothes pins
Tree with plain branches or sticks
Individual photo's of students

Have kids in the classroom bring in their favorite photo's of themselves or their school photo's to do a class tree. They attach their pictures with the colorful tiny plastic clothespins and hang them on the tree. This is a great school and daycare project and can be modified in many ways. *For example: Kids can bring in pictures of their pets, family members, trips, etc. or make their own individual trees. *This project is great for home as well!

Rock Kidz

Supplies:  Smooth rocks
Paintbrushes
Poster or acrylic paints or thick water based paints
Pencil or white pencil
Optional: Magic marker
Craft sealant spray or brush on
Recycled baby food jars

Clean flat, smooth or rounded rocks well & let dry. In pencil sketch your design of choice on rocks. Paint your design carefully.  Let dry.  Seal rocks with a craft sealant spray or brush on sealant. Remember to recycle baby food jars to mix your paint in.  * Kids can design various rocks and give them as gifts too. Wrap them with a colorful ribbon for gift giving. *Be creative!

Kidz Sea Sculpture
Supplies:
Square flat piece of wood
Craft glue, Elmer's glue to apply the sand
Clean beach sand white or colored sand from craft store
Seashells, starfish, driftwood, small seagull sculptures, beach rocks or shells (All can be purchased at craft store too)
Anything that can be found on the beach that won't spoil
Colored plastic toothpicks
Recycled construction paper pieces to use as flag
Thin magic marker

Glue clean beach sand over entire top of smooth flat wood. Start this by applying a lot of glue & smoothing it over wood. Shake beach sand onto it & completely cover. Let dry & shake off excess sand. Glue seashells, small driftwood & any other items that you collected from the beach to sandy board. You can be creative & stack the driftwood or glue them in piles on top of each other. Write on your triangle cut flag out of construction paper & write for example "Mesa Schools Keep Our Beaches Clean!" or the beaches name you collected your items from & the date or year, students name like "Marc's WA Beach Retreat!" *Be creative!

Kidz Treasure Boxes
Supplies:
Recycled old greeting cards
Sturdy box, cigar box, or shoebox
Elmer's glue or glue sticks

Cut tops of greeting cards & glue to entire box to store child's treasures of choice in. *Optional ideas: Glue pictures, magazine pictures, cancelled stamps, favorite fabric pieces, seashells, rocks, glitter etc. *Use your imagination!

Kidz Treasure Boxes 2
Supplies:
Kids find odds & ends like broken earrings, beads, glitter, favorite small items, stickers etc.
Glue stick or craft glue
Box of choice
Colorful construction paper or white

Gather old broken earrings, beads, items listed above. You can cover the box first with construction paper or even felt if you want a different look. Then apply the items with glue. Let dry completely. Kids keep their Treasures that they find (treasures to them of course) ("No frogs please!!") inside their very special treasure box! * Make sure smaller kids do not get a hold of small items & choke! *Most kids will enjoy showing their treasure boxes & what's inside of them.

Kidz Recycling
Supplies:  Square smooth flat piece of wood
craft glue or Elmer's glue
Clear coat spray for wood or brush on to seal

Recyclable items below

Collect recyclable small items like bottle caps, corks, toothpicks, pop sickle sticks, straws, anything small & recyclable. Arrange as a sculpture on wood any way you like. They can be stacked or lying down or any way you would like.  Use a colored toothpick & cut a triangle out of recycled paper, write "Mesa Elementary School Recycles" or "ANTie Patti's Kidz Recycle" and attach to the toothpick.
