Hello!
My name is Cassie. That’s short for Cassiopeia; I’m named after the star
constellation. Do you know what it means? It means I am the “revolving
woman”. My brother is named Leo, after Leo the Lion. He doesn’t show up too
well in the pictures because he is all black. We are both Turkish Angora
kittens. We are almost 5 months old now.
I
want to tell you about our fantastic trip. We live near Seattle, Washington now
but we grew up in Jamaica, New York. We were two of many kittens in the litter,
and as we opened our eyes we all saw each other. Later we learned to play
together and sleep together. It was really wonderful to be able to just play all
day with our best friends.
Our
first owner was named Barbara and she was very kind to us. She always gave us
anything we wanted. She took us to the veterinarian for our checkups and our
shots. She played with us a lot.
One
day Barbara came to us and said we would soon be going on a long trip to a new
home. We didn’t understand but we trusted her. She said it would be OK and
that we would love our new home.
When
the big day came Barbara gave us a nice warm bath and a checkup at the Vet. I
saw people filling out papers about us. We got a health certificate that we
needed to be able to go on the airplane. Then Barbara put us in a kitten carrier
on a nice soft towel. She kissed us goodbye and spoke softly to us and that made
us feel good. We knew she would not do anything to hurt us so we weren’t
worried. We got ready for our big adventure.
Some
other people put us in a warm and quiet place on the airplane and we went
flying! What a strange experience it was to go faster and faster, and then up
and up and away! We were so excited. After a while we went to sleep. We were on
an airplane bound for Seattle, Washington.
The
flight to Seattle was long. When we landed a nice man in a uniform carried us to
a little room where some more papers were being filled out. By this time we were
getting hungry and needed to go to the bathroom really bad. Another nice person
said hello and picked us up and said soft words to us. He was our new owner! We
liked him right away and we started to purr to show him we liked him. Once we
were in the car he let us use the litter box and fed us some treats. Right then
we knew Barbara was right, we were going to love our new owner and our new home.
We purred some more and he pet us a lot in all the best spots.
He
told us we had traveled 3000 miles to the other side of America. Can you believe
that? When we got to our new home he fed us some more kitten food and then he
let us curl up on his lap all night. We didn’t meow at all and we just played
and purred and played and purred.
We
have been here for about a month now and we really love our new owners. They
play with us all the time and we are learning what the house rules are. I’m
not sure but I think we are not supposed to get on the dining room table. Every
time we do we are gently put back on the floor. We have several nice soft beds
and a warm fireplace to sleep by when the owners are watching TV. We had 8
little balls with bells in them to play with. We hid those under a desk to see
what our owners would do. Guess what – they got us 8 more balls! Now we have
16 and we’re thinking of new places to hide them all. We really love it here
in Seattle.
So
to all you other kittens out there, people seem to have a soft spot in their
hearts for us. If you purr a lot and pretend to learn their rules, they will pet
you all you want and let you play as much as you could ever want to.
