Dan de' lion
In
this story we take a quick peek at the life of Dan de' lion.
My name is a familiar one and you probably recognize me from my picture
above. The picture was taken at Metaline Falls in Washington State not to
far from the Canadian Border. This is where I ended up & matured into the
handsome Dandelion that I am. My real name is Dan de' lion but my friends all
call me "Dan." I am a
wild Dandelion and people used to notice me more in the past but lately they
just walk by me and pretend not to notice. Luckily I am becoming popular again as people tend to realize
my medicinal qualities just to name a few. I will get into that later in my
story. For now lets head on a magical journey about the life of a
Dandelion seed.
Here is where my story begins…
(The seeds of change…)
(The seeds & miracles of new life…)
(The seeds of hope & love…)
("Remember Kids, you all shine like a star in the eternal sky!")
"Just thought I'd throw that in here for you!"

Lets
start with this important math information first…
Children need love, parents need love, friends need love, and people never stop
needing it. We all need love to
live happy lives. When we focus on
the positive it shifts us all into the positive.
Kids… I believe this equation… Love in your mind = Love in your life
which in turn leads to love in everyone's lives. Wow! So love yourself, let go
of your fears because fears in your mind = Fears in your life and in turn leads
to disappointment and failure. Transform your thoughts from fear to love.
I am pretty good at math and I know that negative thoughts = negative
outcomes. We all need to appreciate the beauty in everything, even this lonely
dandelion because every seed is the miracle of new life!
Parents & Kids imagine this with me if you will…A world filled with
love = a world filled with no sadness, no wars, no hunger, prejudice, violence
or abusing our planet. We would love ourselves, our family, our children, and
our Earth to much to ever destroy it. What
that leaves us with is Peace! Not bad, huh?
We all need love to live happy lives!
Being a devoted Dandelion parent myself, I decided to direct
this part for you parents… Parents; Love your kids
"unconditionally." Don't say to them for example, "I love you
(if) you do this, but not (if) you do that."
Or "I accept this part of you, but not that."
Open your hearts and let the love come from within.
Give "positive re-enforcement," even when your kids try and
fail. How you as adults handle
their failures can affect them for the rest of their lives.
Take responsibility for your thoughts thus taking responsibility for your
lives and those around you. Remember,
you are the teachers of your children, teach them well. Make your work an
expression of love to all of mankind. For
example; Yes I am a talking Dandelion, but I am also a writer and before I can
write I clear my mind and think of positive ways to express my deep inner
thoughts and then apply it to a story for all to enjoy.
For instance, this story! You
and your Kids can do the same thing with work or school as you learn to relax
and think positive thoughts and let those visual thoughts guide you. Tell Kids not to give up, yes they might fail now and then,
but so what! Remember the old
saying? "Try, try,
again!" We are all human and
we all fail from time to time! We
can learn from those failures and can turn them around into positive things in
our lives. Think about it
parents…who hasn't failed in their lives in one area or another?
So again I say to all the kids out there; "Don't give up so
easily!" If I gave up, I never
could have written this story! What
I have taught my Dandelion children is; "Alter your life by altering your
attitude!" There is no better
time to be happy than right at this moment!
If not now, then when? You
will always experience minor set backs in life but realize this;
(Choose) to be happy anyway!
Your (Choice) to be happy will equal what?
Happiness! But it's your Choice.
Kids
Homework…
Focus
on the little things in life, stop and really look at the dandelions, stop and
help out someone in need, look at the little things we take for granted and see
the positive qualities. Kids;
"What you think is what you are!"
"Change your thinking and change your life!"
Ask yourself, "What is really important?"
"What can I be thankful for?"
I know then you will find the answers to true inner peace and love.
Kids
Homework #2…
Practice
random acts of kindness; maybe a student in your class has no pencils or a
backpack or needs shoes or clothes. When
you give without expecting anything in return you will feel the love overflowing
in your heart. Let it come from
your heart! Even a smile or hug
when someone is down makes all the difference in the world.
I feel this starts a Domino Effect (when one domino gets started the rest
follow in unison.) I'm one pretty smart Dandelion wouldn't you say?
Kids
Homework #3
You
might decide to help out your school in some way or join a group to clean up
litter or start your own Ecology group. Anything
that affects a "positive outcome."
Giving love freely comes back to you over and over again! Genuinely compliment each other and you will find it easier
all the time to bring smiles and joy to those around you. How many times we need or want to hear "I just called
(or wrote) to tell you I appreciate you and love you!"
How would you like it if you got that same phone call or letter?
Remember the Domino Effect?
Well
now; I'm glad I was able to bring all of this to your attention.
Now
lets get back to me; Dan de' lion! I
have survived despite certain obstacles along the way. As in my Story above, I
never gave up. I am living
testimony! People have pulled
Dandelions out of their lush green lawns for decades.
Children on the other hand have brought me home to surprise their mothers
with a bright yellow flower. I am a
family of flowering plants producing seeds in abundance.
I have strong medicinal qualities sometimes overlooked when people only
see me as a weed or a nuisance.
I am chock full of natural vitamins and Minerals!
I am rich in fiber, beta-carotene, calcium, potassium, iron, magnesium,
phosphorous, thiamine and riboflavin. I am also known as a "blood purifying
herb" to eliminate toxins from the blood. Dandelion greens are eaten as a
vegetable, especially in the springtime. You
can sometimes find them in your local supermarket.
Thank-you for letting me share my life with you and you can see I am a
valuable plant worthy of everyone's attention.
Next time you walk past me, remember all the things I was able to teach
you and appreciate the little things in life!
