Knuckles The Firefly
On a warm summer night, what had started out as an unusual glow worm,
quickly developed before my eyes into a radiant firefly.
His name was "Knuckles The Firefly."
In the night sky you can see fireflies blinking their lights in different
patterns of flashes and colors. The
males buzz clumsily above as the females call out to them from below.
Many of the adult males have a pale light organ around the tip of the
abdomen. Not all fireflies have
light organs and some are even day flying.
Their heads have red or yellow colors and they have soft wing covers.
Knuckles radiated light and colors like a neon sign throughout the sky
with intense beauty. He danced peacefully blinking colorful array of lights as he
noticed something crossing his path. It
was "Lucy The Luna Moth" as she sailed quietly through the night
humming a lovely tune. She was
dressed in purple with pink wing margins as she dazzled Knuckles with her spring
colors. Knuckles found her quite
interesting and they flew together as he blinked his lights with joy.
Along their journey they came upon a quiet and still pond.
"Daphne The Damselfly" hovered above the waters edge with her
wings whispering in the breeze. She
was an Ariel hunter with short antenna's and a slender body.
She also had four many veined wings which kept her fanned.
She held her prey with her long legs and loved to snack on fish, tadpoles
and insects. Daphne was very
healthy and used her large compound eyes and sharp vision to catch her prey.
Knuckles and Lucy descended lower for a closer look as Daphne quickly
offered a small insect to welcome them. Then
all three of them joined together and flew into the night sky, with Knuckles
leading the way.
They were able to find peace, harmony, health and love in abundance and
had found a purpose in life. They
continued flying on their journey making more friends along the way.
As another day passed by and nighttime fell upon us, I opened the
shutters and looked up into the night sky.
Low and behold it was filled with millions of flying insects and one familiar blinking light leading them all!
