The Spirit Of The West
"Franklin The Fly" was a unique bug that loved to ride horses.
You might find him riding on the wide-open range or even in the local
rodeo. Franklin was always around
where there was food too. Fried
chicken and French-fries were some of his favorites.
Franklin got the name "Fearless Cowboy" because he rode
"Buellton The Wild Bull" in a western bull-riding competition.
Not even the toughest, meanest cowboy wanted to ride that bull, but he
didn't give it a second thought.
Some of the other bugs got pretty jealous of Franklin's popularity and
decided to sabotage his bull-riding career.
"Mojave The Mosquito" and "Mesa The Moth" gathered up
some fried chicken and French-fries, laid it in a cage with a big old
"Scorpion named Silver." Once
inside they knew there was no way out for the "Fearless Cowboy" and
they waited patiently for him to show. But
he never showed.
Finally Mojave and Mesa decided to peek inside the cage to see what was
wrong but behind them the cage door slammed shut and trapped them helplessly
inside. They cried and cried for
help but no one came. Fearless Franklin rode past them on his horse and they yelled
"Franklin get us out of here, we promise never to trick you ever
again!" Franklin opened the
cage and set Mojave and Mesa free. He
then went back to set Silver The Scorpion free as well.
Mojave and Mesa became best friends with Fearless Franklin and he taught
them how to ride in the rodeo. They
learned a valuable lesson that day and were never jealous of anyone again.
They renamed their rodeo "Mojave Franklin Mesa Rodeo" and rode
side by side off into the glorious sunset.
