Stormy
When pink skies turn to blue,
and it’s raining cats and dogs.
The mood suddenly changes,
as shadows of the sun slowly disappear.
The day turns to darkness,
and the wind begins to blow.
A bitter cold casts its spell,
as the earth embraces for the violent storm.
Trees sway in the darkness,
as the full moon lights up the sky.
The rain falls with such intensity,
as it fills the rivers and the streams.
Animals run for cover under branches,
anywhere they can find refuge.
Snow falls in the mountains,
as ice-cycle sculptures emerge.
A white snow blankets the earth.
Animals hibernate in their warm burrows,
waiting patiently for the spring thaw.
The rain begins to subside,
as the smell of pine fills the air.
Fireplaces are keeping residents warm,
and people are huddled together.
Kids are anxious to play in the puddles,
as mothers are busy making hot cocoa.
The sun emerges through the clouds.
The storm has past and
a new day is dawning.
