Beauty In The Bottle (Song)
Starin’ down the bottle,
to the worm on the other end.
Wonderin’ how he got there,
wonderin’ if he’ll be my friend.
A reflection in my bottle,
as the worm begins to grow.
Just how he got there,
no one really seems to know.
One more big swallow,
the closer I get to him.
Just me and my bottle,
and the worm on the other end.
Time won’t mend a broken heart,
as loneliness I can’t defend.
Just give me my bottle,
and the worm on the other end.
Put on my dancin’ shoes,
struttin’ across the floor.
Just me and my bottle,
I bought at the liquor store.
Now that you’re gone,
as I drown myself in tears.
Just me and this bottle,
alone with all my fears.
The dog didn’t make it.
The kids
are grown and gone.
But the worm in the bottle,
just keeps hangin’ on.
One more big swallow,
the larger he becomes.
But when he starts talkin’,
I know my drinkin’s done.
A note in the bottle,
I’ll throw it out to sea.
That one day I’ll stop drinkin’,
and the worm that spoke to me.
